The Texas born son of Texas music legend Bennie Hess; I am literally known world wide & started performing at age 2 on stage with music great Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys. I went on to record my 1st record at age 2 years & 9 months old.
I have performed on stage with some of music's greatest, including George Jones, Ernest Tubb & the Texas Troubadours, Johnny Cash, Hank Thompson, and Porter Waggoner & Dolly Parton .. to name a few.
My recording at 7 years of age, " Please Don't Go Topless Mother" is an Internet sensation & is mentioned on numerous blogs. I have been written about in numerous newspapers including: The Nashville Banner, The Tennessean, The Houston Post, The Houston Chronicle; & featured in magazines such as Country Music Magazine, Rolling Stone, & Billboard; books which include "Nashville Babylon", “The Nashville Sound", “The Handbook of Texas Music-2nd Edition”, “Songs in the Key of Z”, “The Life and Times of America’s Blue Yodeler:Jimmie Rodgers”, & 2017's " Field Recordings From the Inside"; and also in music documentaries such as the BBC's. "All You Need Is Love-Makin' Moonshine", " The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy", & “Music Row Nashville's Most Famous Neighborhood!".
I also did the original recording of " Wild Horses" for Columbia Records in 1988, long before Garth Brooks recorded it.
And I have performed all over the U.S.; including numerous fairs & festivals such right here in Texas: " The Jimmie Rodgers Festival", "The Houston International Festival", " The Kerrville Folk Festival", & "The Red,Hot, & Blue Festival", The Rails & Tails Festival",
Currently I head up my band " Troy Hess & the Texas Heartbreakers", which is a band whose music is commonly referred to as Americana!
